The First Walk

This is truly exciting.  All the contestants that submitted pictures are going to be doing the first walk.  The surprise is we have to wear what we wore in the pictures we submitted.  This is good and bad.  On the good side, we don't have to style a new outfit.  On the bad side, what is good for a picture is not always good for the runway.

The dress I chose has these huge puffy sleeves and the bottom of the sleeve is not linked to your arm, so the sleeve stays in place while your arm moves.  This can look very awkward depending upon the pose or the walk.  With the big skirt, I needed a short walk.

I found a geisha walk I had that looked very nice.  Then I found a default pose that was very close to the hand positions for the walk.  Life was good until I did a practice walk.  The walk and the pose were from two different makers, so every time I stopped walking my arms would go straight down through the dress and then would go into the default position.  I then dug around and found a pose from another maker, but still different from the walk maker.  The problem continued.  I then remembered that Posesion had just come out with a sets of walks and default poses designed to go with each walk.  I immediately TPed to the store.  Luckily there were two sets of short walks and I found a walk that worked and its default pose.  I quickly bought them and rushed home to try them out.  Success!  The two worked together without the arms dropping through the dress.

I then searched for three poses where the arms came out of the bottom of the puffy sleeves and were somewhat interesting.  Hard to find interesting poses when your upper arms have to be somewhat straight down.

Then the days of the walk came.  I was not able to walk the first day due to prior RL commitments.  In talking with some other contestants later in the evening, some had to wait 1.5 hours from report time until they walked and the lag was bad because of the number of people on the sim.

I didn't think the venue was open for practice so I went to the site of the Pazzo Challenges to practice.  After practicing, I noticed that the waiting area for the MMI Competition was in the audience area of the Pazzo Challenges.  So, I popped over there and got the latest card and notice the TP stand.

Well, curiosity got this kitty.  I went ahead and tried it to see what would happened.  To my pleasant surprise, I was TPed to the igloo starting point for the MMI walk.  Well, I am here might as well practice.  So, I took a couple practice walks.

The next morning, I reported to the holding area for my walk.  I was shocked, yet pleased.  There were only two of us who showed up to walk.  Yippie, no lag issues!  It took the judges a bit to get ready so the walks started 15 minutes late.  I was first up and my walk went really well.  No glitches, No lag.  I feel it was a great walk.

Now, we wait for the results and see who gets to move on to the next round.
