The Parade of Contestants Walk

The day of the Parade of Contestants finally arrived.  I got up early and dressed.  I did a final inspection and some small adjustments.  I was watching chat for any notices on the sim restart.  As soon as the notice was out, I immediately TPed to venue.  Luckily, there were not too many people there.  I took a couple practice walks.  I then started derendering all the furniture and plants.  I no sooner finished and I crashed.  So much for being one of the first ones on the sim to get my outfit and poses into cache.  I logged back in and checked a few things out.  I decided not to drender at this time.  Since it was still really early, I decided to go take a shower in RL since this event was going to run right into an appointment I had in RL.

When I got back, I had a model's worst nightmare; another model was wearing the same dress I was wearing.  Luckily, due to alphabetical order, I got to walk first.  Then as other models started arriving, my confidence started to drop.  The outfits that some of the other models put together were absolutely incredible.  Where did they find this stuff?  I was starting to feel like I was wearing a potato sack to meet the Queen of England.

As I was waiting, the lag started to get bad, so I took the risk and started derendering all the plants near the waiting area.  Luckily, this helped relieve the lag.  Its a good thing the walk is not overly complicated.

Before I knew it, the time had come to start the walk.  I was never so glad to be a C.  I got to go fourth.  Just as we started the walk, models started crashing.  Luckily, no one in front of me crashed.  It was now my turn.  The walk down the stairs and the first stop went smoothly.  I turned and headed to stop 2.  When I went to turn into my mark, something happened.  I don't know if I hit a lag spike or my HUD just malfunctioned, but my arms dropped out of my default and my head turned.  I got everything reset and moved on to stop 3 and 4 smoothly.  As I heading to the side, I hit a lag spike and froze.  I was thrown around a little, but made it to my spot.  I was never so glad to be in that spot.  Models were still freezing and crashing.  Eventually, everyone finished their walk and we all made the exit walk.

Now the waiting begins to see who moves on and get our feedback.
